Charles Jones has lived in Douglas County since 1976 and served on the county commission since first elected in 1998. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of Kansas and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. He has served as Director of the KU Public Management Center since 2003. He lives with wife Carol and their dogs in the historic Pinckney Neighborhood of Lawrence. Bob Johnson has lived and worked in Douglas County for over 33 years. He currently resides with his wife Pauline in Palmyra Township close to Baldwin City. He is recently retired from the Charlton Manley Insurance firm in Lawrence. Bob has served on the boards of numerous Douglas County community organizations. Commissioner Jere McElhaney Commissioner Jere McElhaney - 3rd District
Jere McElhaney grew up in Douglas County and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1976. When he is not attending to county business, Jere manages McElhaney Fence Builders, a business that he has owned and operated for over twenty years. Jere is the son of Betty and Louie McElhaney. Louie served as the County Commissioner representing the third district of Douglas County from 1988 until 1996. Jere has served as a volunteer for the Wakarusa Township Fire Department for over twenty-five years and has worked as a paramedic with the Douglas County Ambulance Service.
